Hotel Neri Relais & Chateaux is a gem in the heart of the Gothic quarter. Unique for its location overlooking Sant Felip Neri square, the Hotel opened in 2003 and became the first boutique hotel in The Gothic Area. The interest to share the culture and history of the city from the old town motivated the owners to restore the building that today houses Hotel Neri, with the objective of offering exclusive experiences to local and international visitors who wish to discover Barcelona from its heart in an intimate, sophisticated and relaxed way. The building that now houses Hotel Neri Relais & Chateaux was created in the 18th century, joining two buildings, an extraordinary medieval palace of 12th century and another adjoining palace. The main entrance of the hotel, in Sant Sever street, is a magnificent courtyard with original paintings perfectly preserved from the medieval palace. The access to the hotel from the historical square Sant Felip Neri is through two arches documented prior 12th century. The renovation of the building for the creation of the Hotel Neri was based in the preservation of the original features of the building. During the remodeling of the palace, Roman remains and Phoenician potteries were found under the building. All the items were documented by archeologist and donated to National Heritage. The roots of the hotel coexisted with the creation of the Roman city “Barcino”. Over the years, Hotel Neri has been adapting its exclusive services to the needs of the new travelers but always maintaining the unique character and charm that defines it, a perfect combination of contrasts between history and modernity; urban and home feeling; warm atmosphere with personality.
